Was your family one of the lucky ones to have a movie camera?
The charm of filming in those days. What lucky people they were. Right on the edge of this new development in technology, the ability to record moving pictures at home! Today we give no thought to it as it is available in most mobile phones, but then. Wow! If you had a movie camera, you were really leading the pack and they were the envy of a lot of people!
Watching these films though was tedious, setting up the projector, feeding the film in, turning off the lights and then at the end of it, having to rewind it. And that was a lot of work if the movie only ran for 2 and a half minutes. Today, this film can be digitized and it is available to you instantly to play back on your own home theatre system.
We now have state of the art scanning technology for these Standard 8 and Super 8 mm films. With this new technology, we can transfer your Standard 8 and Super 8 film
into High Definition video!
What this means for you is the
clarity is like nothing you have seen before. This process is frame by
frame scanning so you now see all the detail that is in these films - it
really is amazing. And if you really wanted to, as it is a scan, you can extract a frame out and have it printed! How amazing is that!
We have a viewer so that you can preview your films too! This way you can identify what they are if they don't have a name on them so that the finished library case has this piece of vision identified.
We can also repair your film where it is damaged or if it requires splicing, or the addition of leader on the front or the end of the film so that it goes through our machinery without damage.
If you want, we can put this vision to music and do
some titles too, or ... you can even put a commentary to
it so that you can tell the story! All you need to do is write the
script, come in and we do a voice over - and best of all? We will help
you.
Depending on how the technique on how the film was filmed, we can put it through stabilization and this takes out all the jumpiness that is typical with these films. It can be rock solid. Now just to be clear, it can't be done on all vision, especially if it has been shot with huge amount of shake in it but generally it can be smoothed out.
To give you an idea of how long your film runs for, this chart shows you the reel size and the approximate time your film runs on that reel.
Generally speaking 24 fps (frames per second) is 16mm and we can transfer that as well. 18 fps is for Standard 8 and Super 8 film but in the scanning process, we upscale that to 24/25 frames per second so you can watch it seamlessly on your tv. NO FLICKER.
Please allow 48 hours for your transfers. They aren't done in real time so it does take time to do.
All this gives you peace of mind in that all of our work is done here in-house. So, they can't be lost in the mail getting here, and if you do mail them in, we express them back to you so they are traced. On top of that, we keep a copy of your file for three months - just in case something unbeknown happens with your transfer copy! Now that is peace of mind. Of course, if you want back up copies we can do that for you at the time of ordering and that is the cheapest time to get them because we are all set up for it and ready to roll on it.
