TIMBER CRAFT of the AUSTRALIAN BUSH Vol. 1

This program is one of the most loved of programs since it has a mixture of timber skills from the past along with horses being put to work in the forest.

Excellently narrated by George Dyson, this program explains the use of many of the tools of the woodcutters and loggers.

Set in the bush located south of Hamilton in Victoria, we see the wonderful Clydesdales horses being used to pull stumps from the ground via the use of snatch blocks, and then taking logs through the bush with the use of log lifting wagons.

We see the log splitters and wedges put into action splitting logs in two and into three for use in fences.   And to do this, the various axes, adzes, saws, drills and other pieces of equipment are displayed and explained.   And it also goes into them more modern era with chain saws and there are quite a few here.

From Tasmania we see shingle cutting and bridge beam squaring - and this is quite an art as you will see.  

This is one of the most popular programs, covering timber crafts in the bush along with horse work from dray to large wagons.  Quite a full program
